The propoal Monument for Imagination and Problem-Solving takes the culvert as its starting point, viewing it as a node where movements intersect between the city and the landscape around Mossvattnet in Stavanger. While the area currently functions mainly as a passage, the project seeks to transform it into a shared public space for exploration, rest, and interaction.

A continuous walking loop creates a clear structure for movement while allowing people to pause and stay. Repetition, rhythm, and modular elements form a visual and social system activated by people’s presence. White and red beams establish a strong visual identity that improves visibility and orientation where parts of the path rise above the ground, creating a small elevated viewpoint toward Mossvattnet and the city skyline.

The work exists between a resting place and a thinking place, where imagination becomes a way of engaging with the surrounding environment. The open structure allows the site to change with weather, seasons, and vegetation. A weather vane makes the wind visible, and nearby schools will be invited to design flags for the site’s flagpole, adding a changing layer shaped by local participation.

The project is made in collaboration with the Swedish artist Jacob Dahlgren.
